Digital signage menu board for wine or bar

Indeed. The wine drinker has always been discerning, besides being savvy with the bevy of wine brand names cherished across several countries, mostly European. Very often though, an occasional wine drinker , your customer, is completely at sea when presented with a wine menu. This is where your sommelier comes in. A restaurant’s sommelier is usually in charge of assembling the wine list, educating the staff about wine, and assisting customers with their wine selections.First , let’s define wine and it’s cardinal differences with hard liquor. Wine is an alcoholic beverage that is made from fermented grape juice. And liquor is an alcoholic beverage made from distillation after the process of fermentation. Wine has an alcohol content of less than 15%, where as liquor has alcohol content of above 35%. Types of hard liquor are whiskey, scotch, brandy, vodka, gin, and rum. Types of wine are  Bordeaux, Chianti, Merlot, Point Noir and Rioja. They can be further classified into red wines, white whites, rose and sparkling wines, dry wines etc.

We, at DS Menu have designed innumerable wine menu boards given the needs of different categories of restaurants. For, as we observe, the wine menu is not confined to the wine bars alone. While the wine bars do have a novelty in being exclusive, and cater to a wine-savvy elite clientele, fine dining restaurants too stock a sizable variety of wines for their customers. These servings and offers stem from the traditional European etiquette whereby a bottle of wine is still a preferred accompaniment with a sumptuous meal.

The Wine Cocktail deserves a brief mention since an important segment of customers prefer a mix of wine and a lighter version of alcohol. A wine cocktail is a mixed drink, similar to a true cocktail. It is made predominantly with wine (including Champagne and Prosecco), into which distilled alcohol or other drink mixer is combined.

  • Wine Bars are perceived to be classy, and that’s because a wine drinker is perceived to be wealthy and elegant and sophisticated. And for a long time it was held that Wine is for the connoisseurs and the epicures and the gourmets of the world. A wine customer knows exactly which brand will suit his taste and which food/s go with it. For the restaurant, the access to premium wines and the investment therein needs to be justified. No point stocking the vintage ‘Screaming Eagle’ when most customers want the ‘Colt 45 Malt liqueur’. Hence, a careful study needs to be done before investing and designing the menu board.

The Wine menu should be accompanied with appropriate food items such as chicken wings, lamb chops, ribs, briskets and the like so that the restaurant makes money on these too. On the menu board, premium as well as inexpensive Wines should be showcased to entice a larger target audience.
